Atelier Sven Beirnaert designs interiors and exteriors of books and worked with national and international publishers such as Lannoo, Luster, Hatje Kantz, Buchhandlung Walther König, Aperture, Public Space, Schirmer/Mosel, Actar Publishers and Prestel. And for museums and galleries such as S.M.A.K. (Ghent), FoMu (Antwerp), MuZee (Ostend), Wiels (Brussels), STAM (Ghent), Cc M / De Garage, (Mechelen), GLUON (Brussels), Kanal / Centre Pompidou (Brussels), Flemish Architecture Institute (Antwerp), David Zwirner Gallery (New York) and BOZAR (Brussels).

 

ASB was selected for the 'Best Designed Books' in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015, and the 'DAM Architectural Book Award 2014' (Filip Dujardin, Fictions), and won the prizes for the architecture book Antwerp Central, the photo book Archetypes. In 2016 he won the awards for 'Best Dutch and Flemish Books' with the publications Stan Douglas, the Secret Agent and Polo Architects. In 2019 he won the 'DAM Architectural Book Award' (Frankfurt, Germany) and the 'Best Design Book in Flanders 2019' with the publication Léon Stynen, A life of Architecture. In 2022, ASB won the 'DAM Architectural Book Award' (Frankfurt, Germany) with the publication "From Bel Étage to Illuminated  Floor" – This publication is a tribute and diary about the restoration and refurbishment of the historic Antwerp City Hall.

Sven Beirnaert studied typography & design at the Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst, Sint-Lucas Visual Arts in Ghent, Belgium. He has been working as an independent graphic designer since 2002. He designed posters and publications for the cultural sector and magazines. Since 2008 his practice 'Atelier Sven Beirnaert' focus on art, design and architecture publications.
